Museum of Coastal Carolina
At The Museum of Coastal Carolina visitors can get up close and personal with sharks at the shark jaw exhibit and be one with ocean life while playing with starfish and sea urchins at the touch tank. The Green Swamp diorama allows patrons to see what it would be like to be a part of the Carolina wildlife and the Legacy of the Loggerhead, sea turtle exhibit tells the epic tale behind the fascinating creatures. Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson

Fort Anderson, originally Brunswick Town, was originally destroyed by the British in 1776 and was reconstructed again during the Civil War to aid the Confederacy in protecting the Cape Fear River. Now, it is an American landmark where visitors can peek back in time and admire the original foundations of the Civil War fort.

Parks & Recreation

After years of preparation, the Ocean Isle Beach area finally has its first community park, where locals and visitors can take part in a myriad of fun activities. The 58 acre recreational park has been in the works for the past two years and was just completed in the summer of 2010. After putting $3 million into the project, Brunswick County will now be able to gather together and take advantage of a number of amenities including; the use of a lavish amphitheater, impressive festival grounds, ball parks, lighted tennis courts and biking trails. The wait is over!

Events

The North Carolina Oyster Festival
Now in its 30th year, the North Carolina Oyster Festival in Ocean Isle Beach is the most exciting event of the year, according to the North Carolina Association of Festivals and Events. The Oyster Festival brings tons of visitors to Ocean Isle Beach, where they can enjoy constant live entertainment, a road race, a surfing contest, over 120 arts and craft stations, 13 local food vendors, an Oyster Shucking Championship and an Oyster Stew Cook-Off. Whether or not you like to eat oysters, the festival is a can’t-miss event for people of all ages.

The 29th Annual Blue Crab Festival

In May, locals and visitors alike get to partake in one of the largest festivals in the southeast, the Annual Blue Crab Festival! In its 29th year of fun, the event also includes a number of entertaining activities such as the Festival Queen Pageant, a 5K run, a Motorcycle Poker Run and Golf Cart Raffle.

Concerts on the Coast
From Memorial Day through Labor Day, come on down to Ocean Isle Beach for good food, great music and even better dancing. The Concerts on the Coast, free concert summer has been around for 10 years now, raising money through donations for local food pantries. Every Friday at 6:30 for 15 weeks, patrons can enjoy the musical stylings of the impressive local talent. With nearly 1,500 visitors at each show, you don’t want to miss these summer concerts. Don’t forget your beach blankets, lawn chairs and dancing shoes!
